News Conference Video and Updates

At a news conference today, we officially announced “Countdown to Capture”, a true crime podcast written and produced by the Newport Beach Police Department.

The Subject

This podcast details the crimes alleged against Peter Chadwick.  We begin on Wednesday, October 10, 2012, when Peter and his wife Q.C. mysteriously disappeared from their home in Newport Beach, CA.  The podcast covers the ensuing search for the Chadwicks, the discovery that Q.C. had been murdered, and the identification of Peter as the primary suspect in her homicide.  After his arrest, Peter is released on bail, and escapes without a trace in January 2015.  He is now wanted as a murder and fugitive.

The Goal

Our goal is to find Peter Chadwick and bring him to justice.  He could be anywhere in the world, and we hope that this podcast allows us to reach listeners across the globe who might be able to identify him.  A $100,000 reward is being offered for information leading directly to his arrest.

  1. Where are all the photos of Peter Chadwick announced on this website? Does peter Chadwick have a British accent?

  2. Love the PODCAST!!!! Great job!!! However, I see there are comments, yet I can’t read them or see them or make a comment, I was wondering if you could tell me who to see this or what I am doing wrong.

    1. Hi Danielle – you’re doing it right! We have to approve comments, so there is a delay. I’m not sure why you can’t see the comments that other folks are making, though… Are you clicking through to the actual posts? The comments should appear below the transcripts. Click on the heading or the podcast artwork to get to the post about each episode.

We’re so glad you’re enjoying the podcast!

  3. I am seeing this in Philadelphia , Pa. So I want you to know your info is reaching across the country. As a former LEO I predict Peter will be in custody in short order. The public will let you know what rock he has crawled under. Good luck, God Bless.

  4. I am LOVING this podcast!! I think this is a great way to involve the public and get the information out to many people. I do not personally watch television, however I listen to many hours of pocast weekly. This is a truly brilliant idea and hope to listen to more of the same in the future.

  5. As a retired LEO and life long Investigator I would love to know much more about Peter. In order to find him it may be useful to know what he will likely be unable to change. Does he know boating/sailing? It would be difficult to travel with “millions” of dollars under your arm. Did he purchase visa pre paid cards? Does he know anything about living on his own? Does he like fishing, hiking, cars, pool, cards, music… tell us about HIM… There are things people don’t change even when they try. Does he like Asian women? Does he prefer Asian women? Is he the kind of man who can be alone? Can he stay off the internet? I’m guessing he had/has a number of friends in the real estate world… who? Was he using his phone? Did he have a burner phone? When he did travel what did he do and for how long? You get the idea. Give us/me something to work with.

    1. We appreciate your interest and enthusiasm, sir! Unfortunately, we are not able to answer all of your questions. Some we don’t knowm some we can’t share, and… at the NBPD, our investigation is limited to the homicide itself; the US Marshals Service is the primary agency investigating his flight from justice. Yes, he has a preference for Asian women (but not an exclusive interest). We can’t speak to if or how he converted/transferred all that cash. He was well-travelled before the crime, and there is a good chance that he was able to flee the country. As noted in the podcast, he researched how to change his identity and live “off the grid” prior to becoming a fugitive. The “something to work with” is his face and his voice. He has a slight British accent, and the photos on this website are only six years old… Peter should still be quite recognizable.

  6. Hi, I have been listening to the podcasts in the south west of England. Do you happen to know where in the uk he came from originally? He may turn up in the uk. I hope other people here have heard these podcasts….the homeowners of the uk have a reputation as curtain twitchers! At least I hope he starts to feel the heat where ever he is!

  7. I would not discount him being in Mexico. I lived in Mexico for 11 years. It is very easy to get into Mexico without being detected. When you cross the border you can easily bypass immigration and then approx. 12 miles down the road you come to the red light green light area. Many time you’ll simply get a green light and you’ll got through without any papers being checked. It would also be possible to get a temporary visa, go back to the US and then use it late. They are normally good for 3-6 months. But it’s also easy to get in with no visa, especially if you hit the green light. I doubt the system down there would have accurate records of any visa but they might. Around 2013 when we left the immigration rules were changing but in 2012 it would have been easy. If flying in you are normally issued a 30 day visa on the airplane and immigration in the airport is once again, red light green light.
